Draw Studio

draw-studio-designer-paola-zani-1

DRAW is a Studio founded by Luca Martorano and Mattia Albicini based in Tuscany and South Tyrol. Their values aim at production quality, functionality, expressiveness and a composed, measured elegance.

They work constantly alongside the production, they like to observe how a material is transformed into an object, they care about how this is done and by whom it is done, trying to grasp the secrets and appreciating the imperfection of their manual work. They prefer authentic materials and pure volumes, paying extreme attention to details and leaving them the role of protagonists.

Moved by a passion for Italian authors of the second half of the 20th century, in their work, they show citations of the classics of the past, and love the pieces that reveal traces of that memory.

DRAW is a container of projects and production experiences that are very different from each other.

Mattia Albicini

mattia-albicini-designer-paola-zani

Mattia Albicini was born in Milan in 1980. From an early age, he showed a keen interest in drawing and the arts, but it was in his grandfather’s workshop where he developed his curiosity for ‘creating’ and where he learned the culture of manual woodworking and handcrafted furniture.

After graduating in 2006 with a degree in Industrial Design from Milan Polytechnic, he started collaborating with well-known design studios in Milan, taking part in a large number of projects in different sectors: from furniture to lighting, from home technology to automotive, from art direction to catalogues to exhibition stand design.

After a professional period abroad (Sydney, Australia), he returned to Italy in 2012 and opened Mattia Albicini Studio in Milan, focusing on product and interior design. His eclectic style combines attention to detail, functionality and the search for unusual shapes. This, combined with a strong sensitivity for natural materials and excellent craftsmanship, has allowed him to explore different design scenarios, sectors, materials and production technologies.
